0.1m Woman Health Workers By End Of 2005

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan : May 12 (PNS) - Government has initiated a primary health care system to provide quality health facilities to people free of cost, Director General Health Major General (rtd) Muhammad Aslam said.
He told PTV that 100,000 lady health workers would provide care across the country by end of next year to provide basic health facilities and help fight disease. Presently, 70,000 woman health workers were providing necessary health facilities to 60 percent population. They were treating local diseases, educating on family planning, etc, he said.
To a question he said, owing to low per-capita income, provision of health insurance facility to every citizen was impossible. Todate, only 12 cases of polio have been received from all over the country. Polio will completely be eliminated by the end of next year, he added.
